Almost 86% of Australians are double vaxxed

Vaccination figures throughout the country continue to rise with almost 86% of the nation’s population over the age of 16 now fully vaccinated against COVID-19. That’s nearly 18 million of us!

Latest figures show nearly 92% of Aussies over 16 (or almost 19 million) have had at least one vaccination.

In the disability sector, 80% of NDIS-screened workers have been double-jabbed (85.4% single dose) compared to just over 81% (85.7%) of NDIS participants living in shared accommodation.

As these figures continue to grow and states ease restrictions and experience more freedoms, Developing Australian Communities’ Disability Connection Expos 2022 are looking to be even safer events.

Melbourne will host an expo in January and Victoria has just entered Phase D of its Road to Recovery target, surpassing 90% of the state’s population 12 years and over double vaccinated. Figures show 93% of the state has had at least one vaccination.

In February it’s Sydney’s turn for an expo with current figures showing just shy of 92% of New South Wales people over the age of 16 having two jabs (almost 95% one dose).

This means more freedom for those who have received two doses.

The expos move to Brisbane in March – Queensland has reached its 70% double-dose vaccination targets which means eligible domestic travellers may now enter Queensland from a hotspot and quarantine at home.

However, from December 17, 2021, restrictions on businesses will be further eased. Many businesses and venues will be able to return to operating at full capacity.

However, there will be restrictions on people who are not fully vaccinated.

Read about the restrictions that will be in place for vaccinated and unvaccinated people come December 17.

Face mask restrictions have eased.

Almost 75% of Queenslanders are double-dosed (just over 83% one dose).

With Perth hosting the last expo for the year in May – figures show almost 74% of West Australians are double-dosed (85% single dose).

The state government is hoping its Summer Vax Drive initiative will drive those figures even further higher by encouraging more people to roll up their sleeves.

With an increase in pop up clinics in Western Australia and similar drives throughout the rest of the nation, Australia is in good shape to enjoy the freedoms 2022 offers, not to mention the COVID-safe fun they will have at the expos!
