There’s a lot going on around Australia right now and people are struggling but holiday periods like Easter can be even more stressful, particularly households and residents affected by domestic violence.

RizeUp Australia’s Easter drive aims to put the smile back on little faces affected by domestic violence throughout the country.

There are thousands of little people living in refuges that need something to smile about and RiseUp needs our help to collect thousands of Easter goodies to distribute to all of the little people who have escaped violence households and are living in refuges.

Domestic violence affects everyone – all races, religions and social classes.

RizeUp works to shift attitudes, perceptions and challenge societal norms in Australia which have, as a by-product, created a toxic and unhealthy environment.

The RizeUp mission is to drive awareness of domestic and family violence within society by generating life-changing, practical support for the families affected, giving them the hope and empowerment to move on to a life free from violence.

To do this, the organisation brings communities together, facilitates volunteers, and makes real, far reaching and practical contributions to these families.

A family fleeing from a violent household will often enter a refuge with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

RizeUp has created various programs to support and empower these courageous families via specialist domestic and family violence organisations.

When a family leaves a refuge, RizeUp furnishes their new accommodation with everything they need to make it a home, so they can make a fresh start.

It also helps impacted children in their healing process and to settle into a new school.

And this is where you can help.

This Easter, RizeUp is collecting sweet gifts to help little people escaping violent households, They are after donations of:

• Easter push toys
• Chocolate bunnies
• Easter eggs and
• Boxed chocolates etc

From now until April 1, you can drop the above goodies at any of the listed locations throughout the country HERE, or email easter@rizeup.com.au and they can connect you with a volunteer close to you.
