It will be a glam-filled affair with the “who’s who” of the industry and tickets are already flying out the door!
Nominations are already open for the eight categories so if you know of a worthy recipient, get their nomination in today!
Book your place or invite others to attend because this exclusive black tie event will help raise funds for Australian charities through the National Disability Leadership Organisation (NDLO).
The Disability Staff Recognition Awards is one of the fundraising events Developing Australian Communities host around Australia to raise awareness for the great work providers and staff do in the sector, while also raising funds to support the NDLO’s objectives.
The charity was established to advance the social and public welfare of people living with a disability and also to protect and promote the human rights of people living with a disability.
Together the charity will work with those within the sector to help create sustainable solutions to some of the challenges within it. Forging change together.
The dinner will help shine the light on these objectives and help achieve its goals.
While we are yet to nominate the charities for Brisbane and Perth next year, proceeds from Melbourne and Sydney gala evenings will go to Tourette Syndrome Association of Australia (TSAA) and RizeUp.
TSAA is a voluntary and non-profit organisation consisting of people with TS, their families, health and education professionals and other interested people.
The association disseminates educational materials in the fields of health care, education and welfare service, provides telephone counselling and operates support groups.
Visit www.tourette.org.au for more details.
RizeUp works in partnership with specialist domestic violence services across Australia, as more of an add-value for services that work at the frontline with families impacted by domestic and family violence.
According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare report issued in October last year:
- One in four (25% or 748,000) women with disability have experienced sexual violence after the age of 15, compared with 15% (or 978,000) without disability.
- One in 14 (6.6% or 187,000) men with disability have experienced sexual violence after the age of 15, compared with 3.9% (or 241,000) without disability.
