Welcome aboard, Awesome Auslan

The use of the word “awesome” in the logo is entirely deliberate. An Early Bird exhibitor for the Brisbane Disability Connection Expo 2023, Awesome Auslan has a mission to facilitate people in their journey to learn Auslan (Australian Sign Language) and appreciate and respect the Deaf culture and their language.

Aiming to spread deaf awareness throughout the hearing community and maintain and sustain the integrity of the Auslan language, Awesome Auslan provides Deaf Awareness sessions and Auslan workshops in regional and remote areas of Queensland.

Awesome Auslan Founder and Director Michaela, has used, loved and continued to learn Auslan throughout her life, it was when she started studying the Diploma of Auslan (Deaf Cohort 2018) that she became awestruck by how beautifully complex Auslan is.

A qualified teacher with 18 years experience, teaching Prep – Year 12 in Special Education settings and Adult education for 5 years Michaela’s extensive knowledge of Auslan has allowed her to develop an online Auslan course, Key word Auslan signs sessions (Face to Face), Auslan taster sessions, and a Deaf awareness training session (Face to Face) for everyone from beginners to those looking to extend their knowledge.

Awesome Auslan’s Beginner Auslan course will provide you with enough knowledge to converse with Deaf and Hard of Hearing people at a basic level, with easy to follow videos for you to practise along with and downloadable content for each lesson so you can practise anywhere.  Self paced with Lifetime enrolment this easy to follow course is a great place to start.

If you would like to learn more or perhaps enrol you can connect with Awesome Auslan at the Brisbane Disability Connection Expo Friday 3 and Saturday 4 March 2023 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
