COVID-19 vaccination booster push for participants continues

Support for National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants to access the COVID-19 vaccination and boosters will continue into 2022, according to NDIS Minister Linda Reynolds.

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has a temporary pricing arrangement in place for eligible providers to support participants to get their two doses of the COVID-19 vaccination.

This support for the first two doses will be extended to the end of March.

An additional $75 payment is now available for eligible providers to support participants to get their COVID-19 vaccine booster.

The COVID-19 booster support will be backdated to November 8, and available to June 30, 2022.

“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the health and wellbeing of NDIS participants has been our utmost priority, and this extension ensures eligible participants will continue to be supported to get the COVID-19 vaccination,” Senator Reynolds said.

“NDIS Providers and the disability sector are to be commended for quickly implementing infection control measures and participating in the vaccination program, which has seen one of the lowest rates of infection and death, and one of the highest rates of vaccination amongst OECD nations, something which is the envy of the world.”

“A booster dose is recommended to maintain immunity against COVID-19. NDIS participants are eligible for a COVID-19 booster if they are 18 years and older, and have had their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccination at least five months ago.”

Eligible providers can claim up to $150 for each participant they help to attend an offsite location to receive their first two COVID-19 vaccinations, and $75 for a booster vaccination.
